Privacy Policy

Body Metrics ("the app") is developed by Almstedt Studio. This privacy policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data We Collect

The app collects the following data, all entered manually by you:

  • Body measurements (weight, neck, chest, biceps, forearm, waist, hips, thigh, calf) and their dates
  • Body composition values (body fat %, muscle mass, visceral fat), if you enable Advanced Metrics
  • Profile details — height and biological sex (used only to calculate BMI, waist-to-height ratio, and body fat estimates)
  • Target values you set for any measurement
  • Blood test results, if you enable the optional Bloodwork feature — the marker values, units, and draw dates you enter, plus any reference ranges you customize
  • Email address — required for your account, used for sign-in and password recovery
  • Anonymous device identifier — assigned automatically for data storage

Bloodwork is disabled by default and is only active if you turn it on.

Not connected to Health apps

Body Metrics does not read from or write to Apple Health, Google Health Connect, or any connected device. All health data is entered by you manually.

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, or any other personally identifiable information.

2. Authentication

Body Metrics requires an account to use. You sign in with an email address and password via Firebase Authentication. Your password is handled securely by Firebase and is never stored by us directly.

3. Data Storage

Your measurement data is stored securely in Google Firebase Firestore, associated with your user ID. Data is stored in the European Union (europe-west1) and encrypted in transit.

We do not sell, share, or disclose your data to any third parties, except as required by the infrastructure services listed below.

6. Notifications

The app schedules local notifications on your device — weekly measurement reminders, and an optional reminder for your next blood test if you enable Bloodwork. These are handled by iOS or Android on your device. No notification content is sent to any server operated by Almstedt Studio.

7. Deleting Your Data

You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time:

Delete individual measurements

Long-press any entry in the history log within the app to delete it.

Delete your account and all associated data (in-app)

If you are signed in, you can delete your account directly from within the app:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Account
  3. Tap Delete Account and confirm

Your account and all associated measurement data will be permanently deleted immediately.

Delete your account by email (alternative)

If you cannot access the app, you can also request deletion by email:

  1. Send an email to [email protected] from the email address associated with your account.
  2. Use the subject line "Delete My Account".
  3. We will permanently delete your account and all associated measurement data within 30 days.

What is deleted: your account, email address, all measurement data (history, notes, insights), and all settings. What is kept: nothing — all data is fully removed. Anonymous purchase records may be retained by Apple or Google as required for financial/legal compliance.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data only for as long as your account remains active. Your measurement and bloodwork data is stored for as long as you use the app, so that it stays available across your devices.

When you delete an entry, it is removed immediately. When you delete your account — either in the app or by email request — your account and all associated data are permanently deleted: in the app immediately, and via email request within 30 days.

We do not retain your data after account deletion, except where required by law. Anonymous purchase records may be retained by Apple or Google as required for financial and legal compliance, as described in section 7.

9. Children's Privacy

Body Metrics is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Not Medical Advice

Body Metrics is a personal tracking tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Body composition estimates (BMI, WHtR, US Navy body fat) are approximations only. Consult a licensed health professional for questions about your body composition or health.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
