Privacy Policy

Maxx ("the app") is developed by Almstedt Studio. It helps you list the subscriptions you pay for, review them, and cancel the ones you no longer want. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it is stored, and how to delete it.
The short version: your list lives on your phone. No account is needed. If you choose to sign in for cloud sync, your list is also stored in your own private cloud space. There are no ads, no analytics, and nothing is sold or shared.
1. Data the app works with
- Your subscription list — the entries you add yourself: service name, price, billing cadence, category, next charge date, trial or lock-in dates, how often you use it, notes, and whether you have flagged, paused or cancelled it
- Your settings — currency, app colour, and whether reminders are on
- Email address — only if you sign in for cloud sync (see section 3)
- Purchase status — whether you have unlocked Maxx Pro (see section 5)
Maxx never connects to your bank, card or email. Every entry is typed in or picked from a built-in list of common services by you. We do not collect your name, phone number, location, contacts, or any account or card numbers.
2. Where your data lives
By default, everything is stored only on your device. The app is fully usable without an account and without an internet connection. Uninstalling the app removes this local data.
3. Optional cloud sync (Maxx Pro)
If you unlock Maxx Pro you can sign in to keep the same list on more than one device. Sign-in is by email and password, or with Google or Apple, via Firebase Authentication. We never see your raw password; Google and Apple sign-in are handled entirely by them.
While signed in, your list and settings are mirrored to Google Firebase Firestore, associated with your account ID and encrypted in transit. Security rules ensure only your own account can read or write your data. Signing out stops syncing and keeps the list on your phone.
4. Reminders
If you turn reminders on, the app schedules notifications locally on your device — for example the day before a charge, before a free trial ends, or when a flagged subscription is ready to cut. No notification data leaves the phone and there is no push server. You can turn reminders off at any time in Settings.
5. Purchases
Maxx Pro is a one-time purchase made through Google Play or the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by the store; we never see your card details. To verify the purchase and restore it on a new device, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app-generated user ID and the purchase receipt from the store. This is not linked to your email address or your subscription list.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell, share, or disclose your data to third parties, except as required by the infrastructure services listed below to provide the features you choose to use. There is no advertising and no analytics in the app.
7. Third-party services
- Google Firebase (Authentication & Firestore — only when you sign in for sync) — Privacy Policy
- Google Sign-In (optional) — Privacy Policy
- Apple Sign-In (optional) — Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat (purchase verification) — Privacy Policy
- Google Play Billing / App Store (payment) — governed by the store's own policies
The app can open a service's cancellation page in your browser when you ask it to. Those pages belong to the respective services and are covered by their policies, not this one.
8. Deleting your data
Clear your list
In the app, open Settings → Data and tap Clear all subscriptions. This removes every entry from the phone and, if you are signed in, from your cloud space.
Remove the local data
Uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on the device.
Delete your cloud account — in the app
If you signed in, open Settings → Data and tap Delete cloud account. This permanently removes your account and everything synced to it. The list on your phone is kept. (For security you may be asked to sign in again first.)
Delete your cloud account by email
- Email [email protected] from the address associated with your account.
- Use the subject line "Delete My Account".
- We will permanently delete the account and all associated data within 30 days.
9. Data retention
Local data stays on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app. Cloud data is retained only while your account exists and is deleted with the account. We do not keep your data after deletion, except where required by law.
10. Children's privacy
Maxx is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with an updated date.
