Maxx is built and supported by one person. I read every email and answer as quickly as I can.

When you write in, it helps a lot if you include:

  • The app version (bottom of Settings inside Maxx)
  • What you were trying to do and what happened instead

Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Your list lives on your phone and the app works fully offline. Signing in is optional — it's part of Maxx Pro and only there to keep the same list on more than one device.

Does Maxx connect to my bank?

No, and it never will. You add subscriptions yourself — type a few letters, pick the service from the built-in list, and the price and category are filled in for you. Three taps per subscription.

What do the swipes do?

Swipe right on a subscription to keep it (that counts as a review). Swipe left to flag it as something you could live without. Swipe left again on a flagged row to cut it once you've actually cancelled. Tap a row to edit it.

What is "sleeping on it"?

When you flag a subscription, Maxx waits seven days before nudging you to cut it. If you didn't miss it in a week, you probably don't need it. Flagged subscriptions live under the Review tab with a countdown.

What is the Maxx Score?

A 0–100 score with three parts: how much of your money goes to subscriptions you barely use, how many you've reviewed in the last 60 days, and how much you've cut in the last year. It needs no income figure — it's only about the subscriptions themselves.

I have a leasing or a contract with a lock-in period

Open the row and set Bound until to the date the lock-in ends. Until then the app won't ask you to review it or count it as unused, and you'll get a reminder 30 days before the lock-in ends — the moment you can actually decide.

What about insurance?

Insurance is a different kind of subscription: you don't "use" it, and it usually renews once a year even when you pay monthly. Put it in the Insurance category and set Renews on to the renewal date. Maxx won't ask how often you use it — instead it brings the policy back to Review 45 days before renewal, asks "Would you sign it again at this price?", and reminds you 30 days before so you can compare quotes while switching is still free. Switched insurer? Mark it cut like anything else.

Reminders aren't showing up

Check that reminders are on in Settings → Reminders and that notifications are allowed for Maxx in your phone's settings. Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself, so the subscription needs a next-charge date for a reminder to exist.

What does Maxx Pro include?

Unlimited subscriptions (free tracks five) and cloud sync across devices. It's a one-time purchase — no subscription, no recurring charge. Buy it from the banner at the top of Settings.

I bought Pro but it's locked on my new phone

Open Settings and tap Restore purchase. Make sure the phone is signed in to the same Google Play or App Store account you bought it with.

My list isn't syncing between devices

Sync requires Maxx Pro and being signed in with the same account on both devices (Settings → Sync). Your phone's list is always kept — the cloud is a mirror, not the source.

I forgot my password

On the sign-in screen tap Forgot password?, enter your email, and you'll get a reset link. Check your junk folder if it doesn't appear. If you signed up with Google or Apple, manage your password with them.

How do I clear my data or start over?

Settings → Data → Clear all subscriptions empties the list (on the phone and, if signed in, in the cloud). To remove a cloud account entirely use Delete cloud account. Uninstalling the app removes everything on the phone.

Can I change my currency?

Yes — Settings → Currency. Your numbers stay the same; only the symbol shown changes.

Email away. I keep a real list and prioritise based on what real users ask for.
